Here’s some of the latest music news from today and the weekend:
- The new Decemberists album, I’ll Be Your Girl, is streaming on First Listen at NPR right now, ahead of its Friday release. 2015’s What A Terrible World, What a Beautiful World was good but was a little bit like The King Is Dead-lite. Based on the singles and the write-up at NPR, this one represents a new direction for the band.
- I don’t exactly know what the iHeartRadio Music Awards are, but I caught some of them last night, including Chance the Rapper receiving an innovator award, and, for some reason, Jon Bon Jovi winning an icon award. I also caught this interlude speech from Marjory Stoneman Douglas sophomore Alex Moscou:
- Taylor Swift released a new video for “Delicate.” It’s riffing on her image again, but this time more on her every day relationship with the public. It’s a little cute.
- Paul Simon is currently on a farewell tour, claiming he’ll retire at the end of this run of dates. He’s just added a stretch of shows ending with three nights in New York, two at Madison Square Garden.
