Song of the Day: "We Will Become Silhouettes" by The Postal Service

Welcome to the song of the day, where we feature a single track, whether its brand new or older than us, overlooked or overplayed, our favorite or no one’s favorite; as long as its interesting, it can be the song of the day.

Much of the news lately has me thinking about the end of the world, and the different version of dystopia’s represented in pop culture.

One of my favorite songs of the only Postal Service album is “We Will Become Silhouettes.” The Postal Service was a sort of side project, consisting of Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, producer and DJ Jimmy Tamborello, with Rilo Kiley’s Jenny Lewis. Released in 2003, Give Up is the band’s only studio album.

The song describes the narrator living in a post-apocalyptic world, eating canned food, walking through empty streets, and ignoring the news.
