- This year’s Lollapalooza lineup has been announced. It includes the festival’s typical mix of huge stars, hip hop, rock, indie, and so on. The headliners are The Weeknd, Jack White, Bruno Mars, Arctic Monkeys, Travis Scott, The National, Vampire Weekend, Post Malone, Odesza, Logic, and Khalid. If you want to scour the full list for your favorite artists playing Chicago the first weekend in August, here it is:
- Bruce Springsteen has extended his run of Broadway performances, announcing the final shows to be from July 10 to December 15 of this year. Tickets go on sale next Wednesday.
- Pitchfork has a nice longform article on Wes Anderson, a director whose films typically have excellent soundtracks (like this one for The Royal Tennenbaums). Anderson’s newest, The Isle of Dogs, comes out tomorrow.
- In continuing with their attempt to update the canon of popular music to be more reflective of the great women who have made contributions as great as many of the greatest men in music, NPR is running a poll asking for some of your favorite albums by women. I personally voted for Horses by Patti Smith, Tapestry by Carol King, Little Voice by Sara Bareilles, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road by Lucinda Williams, and Los Angeles by X.
