Philly's own Hop Along, an indie supergroup, and more

Tuesday’s music news:

  • The term “supergroup” is a loosely applied term for the band Traveller. The three members all have their own solo music though none are quite household names. Nevertheless, for fans of indie Americana music, a collaboration between Robert Ellis, Jonny Fritz, and Cory Chisel is quite exciting. The band made it’s first appearance at the Newport Folk Festival a few years ago, but yesterday saw the release of a first official song and an album announcement. You can pre-order Western Movies, out May 4, here, and listen to “Hummingbird” below:

  • Philly indie rock band Hop Along has released the third what is likely the final pre-album track from their upcoming third LP Bark Your Head Off, Dog. Following “How Simple” and “Not Abel”, the newest, “Prior Things”, reaches us a week and a half before the album’s full release on April 6.

  • Aylesbury, a small town in England, has erected and unveiled a David Bowie monument. The town was the site of the debut appearance of Bowie’s character, Ziggy Stardust. The monument was created by Andrew Sinclair and is the world’s first Bowie statue.
