- Nick Cave and Warren Ellis previewed some of their work for the new film Kings, starring Halle Berry and Daniel Craig. The entire soundtrack will be out April 27, the day the movie premieres in wide release:
- The newest release from Folkadelphia, an organization and radio show on WXPN, has 18 songs from 18 different artists, including Julie Byrne, Emperor X, and Lydia Loveless (pictured above). The compilation, Folkadelphia Sessions Vol. V, is on bandcamp for free.
- In other local news, in the wake of the breakup of punk band Creepoid, a new band has formed called Lovelorn, and they played their first ever show on Sunday night at Underground Arts.
- Fred Smith, deceased member of MC5 and husband of Patti Smith, was inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame yesterday. Patti was there to speak about Fred and play a short set, which included a few songs they wrote together, as well as “Because the Night.”
