New Hall & Oates, Counting Crows tour, and more

Here’s the latest music news from this weekend:

  • For fans of last year’s Bleachers album “Gone Now”, the band posted a playlist of 12 youtube videos, one for each song, featuring Jack Antonoff talking a little bit about the background and writing of the album.
  • It’s been 16 years since we’ve heard new music from Philly duo Daryl Hall and John Oates. This weekend they released a new song with fellow Pennsylanian soft-rockers, Train, to be played together during a run of shows featuring both acts, called “Philly Forget Me Not.”

  • I’m always interested in re-evaluating lists and rankings after some time has passed. Certain music grows on me and certain stuff falls away, and I’m sure my favorite 2018 things at the end of 2018 will be different than they will be 20 years from now. Noted music critic Judy Berman joined Steven Hyden on his Celebration Rock podcast to talk about the best albums of 1998.

  • NPR’s latest First Listen is the upcoming Hop Along album, Bark Your Head Off, Dog. The album is the Philly band’s (featured above) third full-length, featuring singles “How Simple”, “Not Abel”, and “Prior Things”.
