Here’s Wednesdays music news, after the jump:
- Indiana band Houndmouth (pictured above) has been playing in the midwest in anticipation of a new album, and they’ve just announced their first East Coast date at the Bowery Ballroom in New York. Tickets go on sale on Friday at noon.
- NPR’s Tiny Desk hosted Tyler Childers of Kentucky, whose 2017 album Purgatory was produced by Sturgill Simpson. He played two songs that are not on either of his first two albums or any EP releases to this date, “Nose on the Grindstone” and “22nd Winter” as well as the closer from his most recent, “Lady May.”
- There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the new Arctic Monkeys album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. According to this tweet, though, it’s a concept album of pure fun, rock ‘n’ roll:
Questions already answered – It's a concept album. It sounds a lot like Arctic Monkeys, its "pure fun, rock n' roll" even if its a coherent concept album. And no, there was no single date set as of last week.
