Song of the Day: "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" by Gwyneth Herbert

Welcome to the song of the day, where we feature a single track, whether its brand new or older than us, overlooked or overplayed, our favorite or no one’s favorite; as long as its interesting, it can be the song of the day.

This year is not a leap year, but today’s song was featured in the 2010 Amy Adams/Matthew Goode romantic comedy Leap Year. The movie itself is mostly predictable and cliche and even a little offensive to the good people of the Emerald Isle, but is watchable if, like me, you love listening to Irish accents and watching Amy Adams do anything.

The song is a stripped down interpretation of Neil Young’s “Only Love Can Break Your Heart” by Gwyneth Herbert. Herbert is a British singer and producer. The song was the first single and third track on Neil Young’s stone-cold classic third solo album, After the Gold Rush, released in 1970.
