Florence Welch and Isabella Summers started Florence + The Machine in the mid-00s, releasing their first album, Lungs, in 2009. Their debut was followed by Ceremonials in 2011, which contained the song “Spectrum,” a remix of which is the band’s most successful single to date. How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, the band’s third album, was released in 2015, and like the previous two albums, reached the number one spot on the UK charts. The band’s fourth album, High As Hope, is upon us today.
“Sky Full of Song” was the first song released from High As Hope, followed by “Hunger.” The band grew up in London, and NME has this guide to different south London references throughout the album. They will be touring beginning the second week in July, with a stop at the Wells Fargo Center on October 14.
Welch was a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers last night, talking about her early years, starting a coven in college, her love of notebooks, and more and followed it up with a performance of “Hunger.”
