Lori McKenna has released 10 albums since her debut, Paper Wings and Halo, in 2000. McKenna was mostly below the mainstream radar for around eight of those albums, before deservedly receiving some attention for 2016’s The Bird and the Rifle. She won back-to-back Best Country Song at the 2016 and 2017 Grammy’s for co-writing “Girl Crush” by Little Big Town and “Humble and Kind” by Tim McGraw. McKenna’s own album was also nominated for Best Americana Album.
The Massachusetts-based singer-songwriter’s newest, The Tree, features the singles “People Get Old,” “Young and Angry Again,” and “The Lot Behind St. Mary’s.” It was produced by Dave Cobb and features co-writing credits for some of McKenna’s former writing partners, Hillary Lindsey and Liz Rose, plus Barry Dean, Aaron Raitiere, and Natalie Hemby.
