Though technically 2015’s Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit was Courtney Barnett’s debut album, she first made waves with her two EPs, which were eventually combined and released as The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas in 2014.
Now, the Australian singer-songwriter is back with her sophomore release, Tell Me How You Really Feel. The album follows a collaborative effort with Philadelphia’s Kurt Vile last year, an album of nine songs that the two artists wrote and played together called Lotta Sea Lice.
Today’s release was preceded by four songs: “Nameless, Faceless,” “Need a Little Time,” “City Looks Pretty,” and, just this week, “Sunday Roast.” Barnett produced the album with Australian producers Burke Reid and Dan Luscombe, and the album features guest appearances by Kim Deal of The Pixies and her twin sister, Kelley, of The Breeders.
Barnett will be in Brooklyn tomorrow night, followed by a series of international dates before a night at The Fillmore in Philadelphia in October.
