Here’s your latest music news for Tuesday, April 3:
- If you didn’t know that Tom DeLonge of Blink-182 has written five novels, then this news is going to surprise you: pre-orders are now up for the sequel to his second, called Sekret Machines: Book 2: A Fire Within.
- Here’s Pitchfork’s best songs of the first quarter of the year. Some of the songs I liked that made the list: “Cool” by Soccer Mommy, “Need a Little Time” by Courtney Barnett, and “Bad Bad News” by Leon Bridges. Some songs I liked that did not make the list: “May Your Kindness Remain” by Courtney Marie Andrews, “Etta James” by Brian Fallon, and “Shake Baby” by Katie Toupin (featured above).
- Mainstream country music can be hit or miss with me (a lot of missing), but with the high profile release of the new Kacey Musgraves album last week, the new Ashley McBryde fell a little by the wayside. Here she is last night on Jimmy Kimmel performing “A Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega.”

- I don’t know what The Longshot is, but Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day has been teasing it on Instagram for a few days. Possibly a side project? According to the bio for @theLongshot, we’ll find out sooner than later.
