Get caught up on the weekend’s music news:
- The biggest thing this weekend, by far, was Beyonce taking over Coachella. She was the first black woman to headline the almost-20-years-old Californian festival and her set, which featured a Destiny’s Child reunion, was available streaming live on the festival’s site. There are a ton of clips and videos of the performance, all compiled here by Pitchfork.
- If you watched the John Mulaney-hosted episode of SNL this weekend, you may have seen Jack White perform two songs from his new album, Boarding House Reach, but you did not see him perform in this sketch below, because it was cut for time.
- Speaking of, in three weeks, Donald Glover will host the show and perform as Childish Gambino, becoming this season’s first host slash musical guest. It’s hard to imagine his episode won’t be great, as he’s basically done everything he’s ever tried amazingly: write for 30 Rock, act in Community, become a rap star, voice Spider-Man in The Ultimate Spider-Man TV show, his stand-up comedy, create his own show, Atlanta, on FX, and now he’ll be promoting his role in a Star Wars movie while showing us all he can also do live sketch comedy.

- Two of the acts inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this weekend had polar opposite reactions: Jon Bon Jovi has basically been complaining that his band isn’t in for about a decade, while Mark Knopfler couldn’t even be bothered to show up. It just didn’t appeal to him, he said. Also inducted: The Cars, Nina Simone, Moody Blues. The Killers opened the entire ceremony with a somber-free, bombastic celebration of Tom Petty.
- This is sort of sad: Huey Lewis basically said his hearing loss is to the point that he can no longer hear music well enough to perform. Lewis has Meniere’s disease, an inner ear disorder, and the band has canceled their 2018 tour dates.
