Here’s Thursday’s latest music links:
- I guess Dana Loesch and the NRA weren’t satisfied with attacking outspoken and motivated teenagers, they also had to insult Neil Young’s music? Well, he responded.
- Here’s the second song, “Need a Little Time,” from Courtney Barnett’s upcoming album, Tell Me How You Really Feel, out May 18. It’s not explicit, but this video feels a little Star Trek-y to me.
- So these Revamp and Restoration albums are essentially Elton John cover albums with the artists hand-picked by Elton and Bernie Taupin themselves. I know Elton is probably friends with most of these people on the first disc, but I feel like I could’ve come up with a better list of artists. We’ve got P!nk, Logic, Miley, Lady Gaga, The Killers, Coldplay, Queens of the Stone Age, Ed Sheeran, Mumford and Sons and so on. The second disc is Bernie’s disc, and he’s apparently a country fan, because we’ve got the likes of Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Maren Morris, and Kacey Musgraves on there. They’re out April 6.
- And some local news, as Philly DA Larry Krasner said he won’t oppose the release of rapper Meek Mill from jail. I don’t know exactly what this is all about, because I don’t listen to much rap, but I do know that Joel Embiid agrees with this; he went to visit him in jail in December and has tweeted about it plenty.
