Here’s Friday’s collection of music news:
- This is really cool. Granfalloon: a Kurt Vonnegut Convergence is a conference at the University of Indiana celebrating one of my favorite authors. Amongst panel discussions and dramatic readings, there are also a number of musical performers, including Father John Misty, Waxahatchee, Thee Oh Sees, and Shabazz Palaces.
- I don’t know how I missed this, because I’ve been looking for it, but Leon Bridges announced a new album last week. Good Thing will be in stores May 4, and there’s two pre-releases, “Bad Bad News” and “Bet Ain’t Worth the Hand”:
Anyway, Leon announced the tour dates today. They include a slate of support dates with Harry Styles in South America, Philadelphia at The Fillmore on September 30 before the as-of-now final two dates at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
- There’s nothing to say about this fascinating bit of news beyond what’s in the Variety headline: the Spice Girls will be reuniting for an animated superhero movie. I’d watch.
- I don’t know how many free articles you have left at the (failing) New York Times but Billy Corgan gets really into it in this interview leading up to Smashing Pumpkins new tour.
