New Springsteen photos, World Cafe Live, and more

  • This was buzzing around earlier in May, but now The Gaslight Anthem has made it official and posted pre-orders for their 10th anniversary edition of The ’59 Sound. The new LP, which features nine tracks from the album sessions, includes alternate versions of six album songs, two previously unreleased songs, and a cover of a traditional folk song, “God’s Gonna Cut You Down,” which has been recorded by Odetta Holmes and Johnny Cash.

  • Also via Rolling Stone, you can check out a few select photos from a new exhibit at a gallery in LA called “Unseen Springsteen.” Photographer David Rose unveiled a series of pictures from his time as Bruce’s photographer in the late ’80s and through the ’90s. This header image from the collection is Bruce at his home in New Jersey dancing with his wife, Patti Scialfa, to music on the jukebox.

  • NYU-via-Nashville indie act Soccer Mommy released one of the year’s best albums, Clean, in March, and played some songs from it on yesterday’s World Cafe Live.

  • Echo & the Bunnymen have announced a new album, their first since 2014’s Meteorites. Out October 5, The Stars, The Oceans & The Moon will feature reinterpretations of some of the band’s best songs throughout their 12-album career.

The first song released is a reinterpretation of “Seven Seas,” originally from the band’s 1984 album, Seven Seas.
