- “As marriage has become more inclusive, it seems like it’s time the music we use to celebrate it caught up,” the site for an upcoming compilation EP reads. The EP, Universal Love, will feature songs written by men for women sung by women and vice versa, thus making them wedding-appropriate for same-sex couples. The six artists on the compilation are Valeria June, Bob Dylan, Kesha, Kele Okereke of Bloc Party, Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie, and St. Vincent.
- “Kings and Queens” is one of the songs that appeared on Mat Kearney’s recent self-titled EP and will resurface on his next full length, Crazytalk, out May 4. Yesterday, Kearney (pictured above), a native of Oregon, released a music video to accompany the song.
- This announcement’s been a long time coming, but luckily the release is not too far out. The Arctic Monkey’s sixth album, titled Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, will be out May 11. The LP comes with a 16-page booklet for the first album we’ve gotten from these British rockers since 2013’s AM. No singles yet.
- New song from The Get Up Kids, “Maybe,” accompanies the announcement of an EP, The Kicker, out June 8. It’ll be the band’s follow-up to 2011’s There Are Rules.
