Welcome to the song of the day, where we feature a single track, whether its brand new or older than us, overlooked or overplayed, our favorite or no one’s favorite; as long as its interesting, it can be the song of the day.
In thinking about NPRs poll for best albums by women, I was dwelling on the great second album by Audra Mae & The Almighty Sound. Unfortunately, Audra Mae does a lot of work writing and producing with other artists that it seems her solo career has mostly fallen by the wayside. But her self-titled second album is a set of excellent country/Americana rock songs, including this one, which was co-written with Dan Wilson of Semisonic (another artist who’s solo career has been mostly engulfed by his work with other artists).
This version is a live performance at the Bing Lounge in Portland, Oregon from 2012.
