Song of the Day: "Cardinal" by Mt. Joy

Welcome to the song of the day, where we feature a single track, whether its brand new or older than us, overlooked or overplayed, our favorite or no one’s favorite; as long as its interesting, it can be the song of the day.

Spring is here, but it doesn’t quite feel like it yet. I don’t know about you, but where I am in Philly it’s rainy and in the 30s right now. So today’s song is “Cardinal” by Mt. Joy, which features the lyric: “It’s freezing in Pennsylvania.”

The band released their self-titled debut at the beginning of March, and “Cardinal” is the ninth track on the album. The song, like most of the 13 songs on Mt. Joy, was written by lead singer Matt Quinn and was released as a single prior, along with “Silver Lining,” “Sheep,” and “Astrovan.”
