Today’s song is familiar to anyone who watches the Black-ish spin-off on Freeform, Grown-ish. The show reaches the levels of quality of its parent show while still feeling uniquely its own thing, which is very impressive. The show, which ended its first season last week, uses the song “Grown” by Chloe x Halle as its theme song, but what blew my mind when I looked it up recently was that Chloe and Halle Bailey play Jazlyn and Skylar Foster on the show. When the show first aired, I thought it was an interesting choice for a theme song, but wasn’t necessarily grabbed by it, but it eventually really grew on me, and it really brings it home that it was written and performed by two of the shows stars.
