Welcome to the song of the day, where we feature a single track, whether its brand new or older than us, overlooked or overplayed, our favorite or no one’s favorite; as long as its interesting, it can be the song of the day.
The third Avengers movie, and hundredth (?) Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, is in theaters today. Avengers: Infinity War is the ultimate superhero movie team-up, featuring all the usuals like Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Loki, plus Spider-Man, Black Panther, the Guardians of the Galaxy and like a hundred more. So the song of the day today is the ultimate music team-up. No, not Band Aid or We Are the World, it’s The Traveling Wilburys’ “Handle With Care.” The song is the first song on the first album released by the group, which featured Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Jeff Lyne, and Roy Orbison.
“Handle With Care” was credited to the entire group and featured vocals by Harrison and Orbison. The album, The Traveling Wilbury’s Volume 1, was released in 1988 and was followed by Volume 3 in 1990. With Tom Petty’s death in October of last year, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne are the only members of The Traveling Wilbury’s still alive.
