I’m on my honeymoon in Costa Rica right now, and while “Havana” is obviously not about Costa Rica nor is Camila Cabello from Costa Rica, the song is very popular here right now. Cabello was originally a contestant on the second season of The X Factor before becoming a member of Fifth Harmony, a band formed for the third season that would go on to release three albums between 2015 and 2017. During this time, she collaborated with other artists outside the band, before announcing she would be releasing a solo album, which eventually came in January of this year. “Havana” was the first single released from Camila and reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart 23 weeks after it was first released in September of last year. Cabello was born in Havana, Cuba and grew up in Miami, all of which you can also find out by listening to the song. She is currently touring as the opening act along with Charli XCX for Taylor Swift’s Reputation tour, which will be at Lincoln Financial July 13 and 14.
