It’s Pride Month and yesterday was the Pride Parade in Philly! So here’s LGBTQ+ anthem “I’m Coming Out” by Diana Ross. The song was on Ross’ tenth studio album, Diana, released in 1980. The song was the second single from the album and was written by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers. The song peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and has notably been the opener for most Diana Ross concerts since it’s release almost 40 years ago.
Now, even though the song is often interpreted as being about sexuality and could even have been written to be interpreted as such, neither Ross nor the song’s writers are gay, so here’s some of my favorite songs by queer artists:
