Featured new album: “Million Dollars to Kill Me” by Joyce Manor

After a few demos and self-releases starting in 2009, Californian rock band Joyce Manor released their full-length debut, a compact self-titled 18 minutes. The band broke through to greater national attention with their third album, Never Hungover Again, in 2014. Following 2016’s Cody, another well-received batch of quick minute-or-two-long punk-leaning songs, lead singer Barry Johnson and his band are back with today’s Million Dollars to Kill Me.

The album was led by its title track, with two other songs, “Think I’m Still In Love With You” and “Silly Games” also pre-released, the latter premiering just a few days ago on Stereogum.

The album was recorded in Massachusetts with Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou as well as producer Rory Allen Phillips. Starting in October, the band will embark on a national tour with stops at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park and Union Transfer in Philadelphia.
