First Aid Kit, Alessia Cara, protest music, and more news

Check out this NPR article on protest music during the Trump presidency.

The first song from the new Tom Petty retrospective release, An American Treasure, comes from the Florida icon’s vaults. It’s an unreleased track called “Keep a Little Soul” and it’s exhilarating to hear something this good from someone we’ve lost and then be told there’s even more. The four-disc set will be released on September 28.

Canadian singer Alessia Cara released her newest single, “A Little More,” today, with a video featuring some home videos.

The Arctic Monkeys covered Elvis Costello’s “Lipstick Vogue” last night in France. The song is originally from Costello’s 1978 sophomore album, This Year’s Model.

First Aid Kit’s pair of Spotify singles includes a song from their latest, this year’s Ruins, and a song from Kate Bush’s 1985 Hounds of Love.
