- When I showed up to last year’s Shadow of the City festival at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, I was shocked by all of the teenagers waiting in line, mostly because it didn’t seem like the type of event that would be popular amongst that generation. I eventually realized that they were all there to see Khalid, who I’d never heard of but was pleasantly surprised by. The Georgia singer was recently on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert to play some of his most popular songs.
