Vampire Weekend sign with Sony, new songs from Iron & Wine and Ron Gallo, and more music news

Despite the release of Beast Epic just last year, Iron & Wine is back with the new single, “What Hurts Worse,” and an upcoming album, Weed Garden on August 31.

Caitlyn Smith’s debut album Starfire was released earlier this year, and now we’ve got two b-sides from the album, “If I Didn’t Love You” and “Breakfast in the Afternoon.”

Two albums out at the end of the week are on NPR’s First Listen right now: Window Flowers, the debut album from Liz Cooper and the Stampede and Healing Tide, the debut from The War and Treaty.

Philly artist Ron Gallo is back for his sophomore album, Stardust Birthday Party on October 5. Check out the first song released, “It’s All Gonna Be OK.”

Check out the self-titled debut EP from Brooklyn-based Patrick Droney:

And finally, Vampire Weekend have officially signed with Sony Music, who listed the band’s next album as expected in the third quarter of the year, meaning sometime before September 30.
